Walkshire – Five Rise Locks Bingley

Pram friendly: Yes

Distance: 2.5 miles approximately

This is a perfect weekend walk especially if you have children and especially at this time of year when autumn is in full swing.

From the direction of Bingley drive into Crossflats and take a right turn onto Canal Road where you will find on- street parking and some off street parking leading up to the canal.

Walk from here down the canal heading back towards Bingley and you will fairly quickly see the lovely sight that is Five Rise Locks.

After the locks continue along the canal and take a right turning over the bridge and into the centre of Bingley which is a little market town filled with great cafes and shops.

We stopped at The Lounge and had a coffee, it’s also an ideal place for children as it is away from the road and our toddler loved having a dash about in the market area.

If you find the Aldi store you will be able to loop back onto the canal and head back to the starting point. Look out for the swans, ducks and beautiful scenery on the canal.

There is also a cafe at the end of the walk called the Five Rise Locks Cafe which is a perfect spot to watch the barges go by while taking a well earned rest.
